Write the question. Mix the stones in the bag, draw one, place it. Write two lines on what its name makes you think before looking up the meaning. Read the meaning, choose one action. Do not draw a second stone “for clarification”: one question, one draw.
Four stones in a circle
First stone at the top: what you wanted from this in the past. Second, lower right: how you feel about it now. Third, lower left: other people’s influence as you perceive it. Fourth, below: what you most want underneath. Read as four prompts about you; the fourth is usually the honest one.
The old version promised that with the four-stone reading “you can manifest a positive outcome within 4-6 months”. No layout can promise an outcome or a timescale.
Cleansing, charging, and asking for stewardship
Many people wipe their stones, leave them in moonlight, or say a few words before and after a reading. These are ways of marking the practice as different from the rest of the day, and they help for that reason; nothing is added to or removed from the stones. If you find that a short opening and closing ritual makes you take the ten minutes more seriously, keep it. If it feels like a chore, drop it; the reading works the same.
