Quick answer
“Clairvoyance” is the label for strong visual imagination and the sense of seeing an answer in your mind. It has never been shown to bring information from the spirit world or the future, and it will not help you find lost objects or make dreams come true. What it can be developed into is sharper observation and a better memory for what you have seen. Our full guide to the four clairs and an honest training method is here: How to develop your clair abilities. This page sorts the usual clairvoyance exercises by what they really train.
The exercises, sorted
| Exercise | What it actually trains | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Hold an image in mind for 15 seconds (a flower, an animal, a face) | Visual imagery and concentration | Good. Imagery ability varies a lot between people and improves with practice. |
| Study a room, leave, list what you remember | Observation and visual memory | The best exercise on the list. Score yourself and repeat weekly. |
| Dream journal | Recall and self-knowledge | Good, as long as you treat dreams as reflections, not messages. |
| Daily quiet meditation | Attention; noticing your own mental images | Good; ten minutes is enough. |
| Crystals (labradorite, moonstone, amethyst, aquamarine, Herkimer “diamond”) | Nothing measurable | Optional decoration. Do not pay much. |
| Ask your spirit guides to make the image clearer | A way of asking yourself to look again | Fine if the language helps; the answer is your own. |
| Tap the forehead until it tingles to “open the third eye” | Tingling from tapping the forehead | Harmless, meaningless. |
| Practise telepathy and aura-seeing with a friend | A guessing game; auras are an optical after-effect | Fun if you score it honestly over many trials. Expect chance. |
Three promises we removed
- “Manifest dreams coming true and find lost objects.” Imagination does not move objects or events. To find lost things, retrace your steps; memory exercises help with that.
- “Being able to read minds.” Reading faces and tone is a real skill and worth training. Reading minds has failed every controlled test.
- “An adult stopped you sharing your gift, so you have fear to release.” Fear is worth talking about with a real person; it is not a blockage in an ability.
If what you “see” is vivid, unwanted, frightening, or seems to come from outside you, please talk to a GP; that is a health matter, and it is treatable.
